Frankfurt Book Fair: Wrap Up

October 17, 2007

Outside the Frankfurt Book Fair

If you were wondering about the lack of new posts last week on Templeton Bookspark, it was due to the Frankfurt Book Fair, which was held last week (October 10–14) in Frankfurt, Germany. The Press attends this international book fair every year, as it gives us the opportunity to share our new publications and our mission with publishers from around the world.

This year, 283,293 people attended the book fair. The Press exhibited in the English language hall and met with many international publishers who are interested in reviewing some of our books for possible translation. There was a variety of interest in our publications, especially for our inspirational, science and religion, and spirituality and health offerings. And, as always, Sir John Templeton’s publications garnered attention.

We had a successful book fair and look forward to the follow-up inquiries that we will receive throughout the year regarding our publications.

In the September 2007 issue of the online newsletter The Global Spiral, Freeman Dyson, a former Templeton Prize winner, contributed a very interesting and thought-provoking essay, “The Varieties of Human Experience,” in which he remarks on the philosophies of William James and Sir John Templeton.

September 12, 2007

For ten years, Templeton Foundation Press has been publishing books in categories such as science and religion, spirituality and health, business and spirituality, and character development. We publish twelve to fifteen books annually as well as manage several mission-related projects, such as the Gifford Lectures Series OnlineScience and Religion Articles of Distinction, Books of Distinction, the Templeton Publisher’s Subsidy Program, and the Science and Religion Bookstore. Our purpose is to promote the vision of Sir John Templeton, founder of the John Templeton Foundation, through the publishing of books, videos, and other publications that will ultimately result in distribution of the materials to individuals and institutions through domestic and international sales, distribution, and translations.

We at the Press would like to use this blog to promote our mission, our authors and contributors, and the publishing industry. Check back for new updates including in-depth features from our authors and contributors, news about our recent publications, remarks from staff at TFP, and much more.
